You’re an incredibly fit and health centered person. Would you tell us how this journey began and what keeps you going?

I’ve always been super active growing up. I never really had an issue with being active on my own time until my senior year of high school when dance was officially over for good. At this point in my life, all of my distractions went away. My dance career of 16 years ended, and my boyfriend, Kyle, moved away to play football. All of the sudden, I found myself getting out of school at 11:45 every day not knowing what to do with myself. I started working out, eating healthy, and listening to my body. I have always had digestion issues and problematic skin since I was young. I never put it together that movement and diet play such a big role in digestion, gut health, and skin until my life was less busy, and I had time to focus on things I never focused on before.

I’ve always been a girl on the go. I went to the University of Arizona for four years, and lived somewhere new every summer. College was so busy and stressful. I have always worked super hard in school; there was never a crazy amount of time to work out during the day. I found myself doing Pilates inspired floor workouts in my dorm room with light weights and resistance bands. I was in and out of town a lot to visit Kyle, and every time I would go to see him, I would bring what I call my “mini gym” with me, aka ankle weights and bands. I still do this every time I travel.

Over the years I tried a lot of different workouts, and they are all great, but you have to find what works for you, and stick to it. For me, the only way I could stay really consistent was doing my at home workouts.

One summer, I had the chance to intern for Rachel Zoe in L.A. I found myself way more interested in all of the healthy restaurants and boutique-style fitness studios in L.A. than the fashion industry. I was completely hooked, and there was no turning back.

After that, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in the health and wellness industry. I continued college thinking I would graduate and get a full-time job for a company with my marketing degree, however there was a turn of events when Kyle ended up as an undrafted free agent for the Carolina Panthers! We were done with long distance, and in order for it to work for us, I needed to get a job that was flexible.

I always wanted to be a Pilates instructor because the movement makes me feel so good! I can’t even explain it, but my body craves it. I never really thought I would have the chance to actually do the training, so this was a blessing in disguise. I was able to start a full comprehensive training program in Arizona. I am now a certified instructor and teaching at a studio in Charlotte, North Caroline. Yay!

I still love at home, Pilates inspired workouts more than anything else, and I think it is the easiest way for everyone to get their workouts in on a consistent basis. I plan to share more of my at home workouts on my Instagram @summerjuraszek. Be sure to follow along

Wow, you have definitely kept busy! Your enthusiasm is so apparent, and that is an inspiration to all of your followers. Is there any particular advice you would like to share for others following their fitness dreams?

Listen to your heart and go after what you’re passionate about. There is nothing more fulfilling than waking up every day getting to do what you love.

We couldn’t agree more. To get a bit more specific, could you share what you like to do after a good workout?

After my workout, I always try to acknowledge how I am feeling. I do a little scan of my mind and my body. It is so important to be self-aware of how you feel after everything you do. Thirty minutes after, I always eat some sort of snack or meal to replenish my body. I like to eat after so I can be more present with my food and give my body time to digest.

Speaking of food, do you follow any particular diet or eating routine? We’ve seen that you really love celery juice in the morning!

I don’t follow any specific diet programs. I really don’t believe that dieting is the answer. Personally, for me I focus on intuitive eating. Listen to your body, and I promise it will tell you exactly what it needs. Also, just eat real food as much as you can. If you can’t grow it, don’t eat it.

Do you have a particular breakfast routine to get yourself ready for the day?

Lately, I have been starting my morning with a collagen coffee and 100% coconut cream. After I drink that, it depends on how hungry I am. I try to listen to my body and what it needs every morning. Some mornings, it’s just some fruit on an empty stomach with nothing else; other mornings it’s a filling smoothie with tons of nourishing ingredients or avocado toast and olive oil to fuel my brain with healthy fats for the day. Sometimes I’ll even have both, but I always wait to eat thirty minutes after eating fruit, so it can digest properly.

I recently started a health and wellness blog, alldaypretty.com, where I share a lot of my quick and easy recipes. I have noticed that a lot of people want to make the shift to a healthier lifestyle and healthier eating habits, but they just don’t know where to start, so that is why I wanted to start my blog to share with all of you.

We’ve had a look, and you have some great recipes! You made the healthy hummus dip so simple; we can’t wait to give it a try. With all the healthy food, do you have any “cheat” foods?

here is nothing I love more than freshly made chips and guacamole and grilled fish tacos. If I am feeling crazy, I’ll get a skinny margarita to go with it. I’m talking super skinny, like little to no sweetener. Sugar is not really my friend. I try to eat home most of the time, but if I am going out to eat, that is always my go-to!

Sounds delicious to us! Thank you so much for sharing with us and good luck as you continue encouraging and teaching others to live healthier and happier lives.
